activity - changes in the Czech legislation

Example activity of the Association: Striving for changes in the Czech legislation in favor of pro-cycling measures.

An amendment to the Road Traffic Act (Act No. 361/2000 Coll.) came into force on February 20, 2016. Four areas (reduced number of horizontal traffic signs, a dedicated space with prevailing function, cycle/multipurpose lanes, cycle zones as traffic-calmed areas) were improved from the total number of thirteen broader topics which were defined in 2007-2009. Other issues such as crossing areas, an obligation to ride  on the right or protection for vulnerable users were only partially solved, while other topics remained unsolved.

It means that achieved improvements are only partial because many essential provisions are not incorporated yet, particularly an optional use of cycling infrastructure, a clear definition of in-line skaters and their position on a shared lane, or defined rights, obligations and opportunities for cyclists on two-way roads. Other actions should be done, like unification of rights and obligations for pedestrians and cyclists at certain crossing areas, including improved traffic signs, or priority on a cycle path leading along a road.
